AshBon Contracts Ltd ("AshBon", "we", "us") is a family-run building contractor based in Essex, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal information collected through ashboncontracts.co.uk.

We only collect what we need to reply to you and quote for your job.

• Enquiry form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), postcode (optional), the service you are interested in and your message.
• Phone calls, emails and messages you send us directly, plus any photos or plans you share about your project.
• If you become a customer: your property address, the details of the work, quotes, invoices and payment records.
• Website usage: anonymous statistics about how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed, device type and rough location (town or region). This is collected by Google Analytics with IP anonymisation switched on.

We never sell your information, and we do not send marketing newsletters. You can stop any non-essential email from us at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email.

• To reply to your enquiry, arrange a site visit and prepare a quote.
• To carry out, manage and invoice the work you ask us to do.
• To send you a confirmation email when you submit the form, and occasional service emails about your job.
• To keep the records we are legally required to keep, such as accounts and tax records.
• To understand which pages are useful so we can improve the website.

• Taking steps at your request before entering a contract: replying to enquiries and quoting.
• Performing a contract: carrying out and invoicing the work.
• Legal obligation: keeping accounting and tax records.
• Legitimate interests: running and improving our website and protecting it from spam and misuse.
• Consent: analytics and other non-essential cookies, where required.

Your information is only seen by the AshBon team and a small number of trusted service providers who help us run the business. They may only use it on our instructions:

• Our website and database hosting provider, which stores enquiries securely.
• Our email delivery provider, which sends form confirmations and enquiry alerts.
• Google, for website analytics and the maps shown on some pages.
• Our accountant, for invoices and tax records.
• Suppliers or specialist trades (for example a structural engineer or Building Control), only where needed for your job and only the details they need.

Some of our service providers, such as Google, may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, they use approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses to keep your information protected.

• Enquiries that do not go ahead: up to 12 months, then deleted.
• Customer records, quotes and invoices: 6 years after the job finishes, as required for tax purposes and to support our workmanship guarantee.
• Analytics data: kept by Google for up to 14 months.

The site uses a small number of cookies. Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga) help us count visits and see which pages are popular. Google Maps, shown on some area pages, may also set its own cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, and the site will still work.

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete your information, where we do not need to keep it by law.
• Object to, or ask us to limit, how we use your information.
• Ask us to move your information to another organisation.
• Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Enquiries are sent over an encrypted connection and stored in a secure database that only authorised AshBon staff can access with a password-protected login.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
